Out of This World Dressin

Out of This World Dressin

Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, ok that’s not exactly accurate; I actually should say: Once upon a time in this galaxy in the same four walls that I’ve been starring at for the last month and a half (during the quarantine amidst the COVID-19 crisis) lived a woman who starred up at the starry night sky and dreamed of a galaxy far far away. Today is May 4, 2020 and “May the 4th be with you” this is “Out of this World Dressin” (but not to worry I traveled to infinity and beyond all while practicing social distancing and staying safer in the comfort of my own home.)

I know that ambidextrous means that you can use both hands evenly, well that being the case I would consider myself Star-idextrous, because I love both Star Wars and Star Trek evenly.  I know this will not win me many fans, as most people subscribe to one camp or the other, but I love all things space related and fully appreciate the galactic contributions that have been made by both franchises.

In the spirit of evenness, I chose this week to rock my favorite old school Marvin the Martian T-shirt with my starry night scarf, cropped cargo pants and what I affectionately refer to as my Storm-Trooper white ankle booties. I thought it was only fitting to show and tell in my black facemask; and though I’m in no way influenced to the dark side, I can’t be the only one that feels a little Darth Vader every time I go to the grocery store these days, let me just state for the record that breathing through a filtered mask sucks (however ultimately I am blessed and grateful to still have breath) so I will stop complaining.

Considering the obvious restrictions in place during this time, I was unable to go all out on my brunch this week, I had preplanned starfruit salad and hand-painted moon pies, oh my.  But I am happy with my meal and pleased by how cool it came out. I had so much fun making my starship inspired pancakes topped with Pizzelle Italian cookies, a half-moon shaped quesadilla and sunny side up eggs. My futuristic and tubular martini glass is filled with this week’s signature cocktail a Tang-tini with an alien shooter on the side, but my favorite treat was my chocolate astronaut ice cream (so yummy) all in all I loved this interstellar meal. When I first saw this spiral food display it instantly reminded me of something that would be served to me on a star ship of some sort, perhaps after I’d been beamed up to the Enterprise or set off for adventure on the Millennium Falcon. Don’t you just love my galactic looking orchids they were an early Mother’s Day present that set my table off perfectly.  We had a blast building these Star Wars paper starships and it provided the perfect craft project during this time (and btw they actually fly) so cool.

Well I’d better call it quits for now, I have a play-date to watch the latest Star Wars movie “ The Rise of Skywalker” courtesy of Disney+ (I need to make a point of saying how much I love Disney+ because having all the Star Wars movies streaming in the same place is awesome)  Bye Bye till next time, “May the Force be with you, while you Live Long and Prosper!”

PS. My heart felt thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of those who have lost their lives during this Coronavirus Pandemic, they will be remembered!
