"I'm your Huckleberry!" Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in the film, "Tombstone"

Hey everyone welcome to Xtra Dressin, I'm Asha Monique and I'm thrilled that you've joined me for my very first post. Since this is my first one, I'd might as well start at the beginning and that would be with Xtra Ranch Dressin. In my forgone days of waitressing, one of the most frequent requests was for extra salad dressing, and of all the types the one most popular was ranch. I remember one day a regular customer of mine said "Asha, hun, you forgot my extra ranch dressing, you know I always need a lot with my Cobb" I wondered to myself what he would say if I returned to the table decked out in full ranch dressin; a cowboy hat, boots, and faux spurs. I'd say, "You said you wanted extra ranch Sir and here it is!" Knowing this particular guest, he would have cracked up, said "Thank you kindly ma'am" and tipped his hat, and most everyone in the restaurant would have had a good laugh. Consequently, while walking away from his newly ranched table the idea stuck with me, especially when I realized that I in fact could put a perfect outfit together from the pieces I already owned in my closet, and considering that I am a XL-1X woman, that is how Xtra Dressin was born.

So that's what Xtra Dressin is all about, putting together curated outfits that fit into the theme of different types or styles of dressin, all from the perspective of a plus-sized or X-sized woman. As in the case of Ranch here, I'm sporting a Levi's denim shirt and black jeans, accompanied with a straw cowboy hat, white fringed satchel bag, studded faux fur booties, and all topped off with my favorite black fringed mini capelet, and pewter feather pin. But why stop there, I figured I'd might as well show the inspiration that goes into my dressin ideas, by showcasing books that come from my personal library, along with the movies and shows that helped me gain inspiration. I love any excuse to re-watch Tombstone, "I'm your Huckleberry" A classic line. While also binge-watching Firefly for about the third time. I'm a total fan-girl over this show and especially love Shawna Trpcic's costume design of the Character of Zoe Washburne played by the uber talented Gina Torres, Zoe is the perfect example of strong, but still ultra feminine.

For my ranch style brunch, I was inspired from way over yonder and far across the pond (the Atlantic Ocean that is) all the way to England and decided to try my hand at, what I consider a Full English Ranch; featuring Steak and eggs, barbecue baked beans with crispy onions, fried green tomatoes, jo-jo potatoes and jalapeno cornbread, with a swig of margarita and a sarsaparilla soda pop to wash it down. Well that about covers it, I reckon I'd better mosey along now, I hope you enjoyed my little day trip to the ranch, come back next time for a dinosaur-dig.
