Salutations everyone, Asha Monique here and I invite you to take a metaphorical trip with me on a Trans-Atlantic journey to jolly olde England; to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to be exact, for Breakfast at Wimbledon. Wimbledon is the longest running championship in tennis, established in 1877 making it the oldest and undeniably the most prestigious tournament in professional tennis. First, let me state for the record that I am a huge tennis fan (fan as in short for fanatic). And although I follow all four major slams, my unqualified favorite is Wimbledon. Perhaps it's the manners, the class, the civility, the royalty, or the celebrity sightings (Anna Wintour, Shonda Rhimes, Tiger Woods, oh my!) but I suspect it's the tradition of champagne for breakfast!!

Since this is Dressin for Breakfast at Wimbledon, I decided to switch things up this Sunday by focusing on table dressin and showcasing brunch first. In honor of Wimbledon's long standing traditions I had to stick to the classics, strawberries and cream, and the Pimm's cup; made with Pimm's no.1 Liqueur which is a Wimbledon staple. I grabbed a number 1 highball glass and added in about 1oz. of Pimm's topped off with Limonata flavored Sanpellegrino, garnished with strawberries, slices of both cucumber and oranges with fresh mint. The actual meal was somewhat trickier, so I decided to get a little cheeky and call this one a Full English Benedict. Not to be confused with the handsome English actor who plays the fictional detective that resides at 221 B Baker Street London (although this more famous Benedict was in attendance at the final match at Wimbledon). My Benedict has mostly everything (black pudding excluded) that is loved about a full English breakfast; mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon, sausage, and a poached egg, all pilled up on top of a English-muffin and smothered in hollandaise, Yummy! (again only referring to the breakfast) Brunch is completed with baked beans, roasted potatoes, a blueberry scone, and champagne (of course) rounding out this breakfast of champions (it's okay, they said I could eat it).

Wimbledon is characterized by its grass courts, but one of my main focuses is the beautifully tanned men dressed in tennis whites. So with this as inspiration, I decided after breakfast to throw on my own tennis whites and head to my local courts, in looks of both player and spectator, with shades and hats to match.

Welcome back to Serena Williams, and congrats on making it to the Wimbledon final after having baby Alexis, and Congratulations to Novak Djokovic, who munched on a bit of the grass from center court, in celebration of his win (Perhaps his own style of Breakfast at Wimbledon). Well I think that's game, set, and match point. Cheerio, until next time.
