Webster’s Dictionary defines genius as: a person endowed with extraordinary mental superiority, especially a person with a very high IQ— extraordinary intellectual power especially as manifested in creative activity. Although I am no genius, I have learned that Pi= 3.14159265359, According to Google,  is a mathematical constant that appears in many mathematical expressions.  Originally defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.  It’s characterized by the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet.  Today is March 14th and is acknowledged as Pi day, consequently, it’s also Albert Einstein’s birthday, and this date has become synonymous with mathematics, genius and pie eating of course; so could there be any better day of the year for “Dressin in Smarty Pants.”

First let me state for the record, that I have a general, non-specific, unabashed attraction (crush) on super intellectual men, and more specially mathematicians. Probably because I am so lacking in all mathematical areas. Honestly, my finest mathematical achievement is calculating various percent off sales at local department stores, without the assistance of a calculator. However, when I watch a show or see a movie about advanced mathematics—ones where the minor or lead character starts to write or speak in algorithms for example—it always gives me a little thrill! As evidence by my “Talk nerdy to me” sign. And yes, I do have a T-shirt that reads the exact same request.  But instead of sporting my comfy albeit to tight T-shirt, I decided to get more in touch with my academic side and show what I would wear if I were blessed with a genius level IQ, and was allowed to mingle in Mensa circles.

This is my representation of Geek chic meets the absent-minded professor.  Since I love menswear just as much as the next girl, I decided to pair a few of my girly staples with some newly acquired men’s threads to pull off this super scholarly look. I loved finding this menswear inspired plaid blazer that I embellished with sparkly elbow patches and paired it with my steel gray fitted vest and khaki capris, slouchy cable socks and oxford style high heeled shoes completed the ensemble. Can I say I felt very distinguished and academic!

My brunch this week was somewhat ingenious (if I might say so myself) My Einstein brothers bagel sandwich was delicious topped with cream cheese and fresh red onions, yum!  Then to round out the meal I added some pretty smart choices, Smartfood popcorn and Smartwater.  I also thought that the lightbulb salt and pepper shakers where a bright idea ; ) My favorite as always was the mimosa.  This time I played chemist and placed equal parts of champagne and orange juice together in a beaker; by the way, whoever invented the mimosa was a true genius in my book.  I also wanted to pay special attention to the Triple Berry Pie, or should I say Berry to the 3rd power pie (IDK) either way the three berries and pie is just my humble way of showing my appreciation for Pi Day!

PS. Happy Birthday Einstein

PPS. To my very favorite intelligent gentleman Mr. Alex Trebek, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this most difficult time.
